Hi all,i have a problem with the glow plug light coming back on after engine start, icarsoft says its open circuit on cylinder 5.i,ve changed the glow plug even thought it tested ok
but the problem persists. The next obvious thing to me is the glow plug relay.the car is a mercedes c320 cdi w203 2006(w203.20 i believe}with the om642 v6 engine.i,m sure i can get a relay from mercedes dealership but i believe they are around the £250 mark.i,ve been trolling the internet and see on some sites a different numbered beru relay to the part number
on the original relay.does anyone have experience of this problem?original relay numbers are:

A642 153 03 79 /000

BERU DC6G01

0001480158

0 522 140 202

the relay which some sites say is suitable is a beru gse114 relay

the price difference is over £100

any advice would be welcomed.
cheers..................Ged

W221 S65 AMG - W204 C63 AMG + Various other MB's
2 different modules depending on the type of plug. What is your vin number

A 642 900 14 02 is the latest part number
A 642 900 78 01
A 642 900 58 01
A 642 900 28 00
A 642 153 20 79
A 642 153 03 79

All the above are superseded parts, should be compatible. This is for Steel glow plug version on 203.020

Are you sure you replaced plug at cylinder 5. It is best to replace all the same time. Others wont be far behind.

if you have the pn of the relay in the car, pump it into google and some sites show the equivalent.

250 is alot of dosh for a posh switch...

I think its std to get #5 error when it's the glow plug control box ? - beru 90 quid all day long - that's who supply Merc OEM - u should always fit a new control box with the new plugs - on a BM they are usually sold as a kit

its full of software to control them later ones get later software to better control when and how long

this is an example there's a GSE114 unit too

Thank you all for you’re input. In reply to Alec the last part no in your list is the same number as the one on the car at present. In reply to bogus I had all the plugs changed approx 2 years ago. I’m going to bite the bullet,I’ve ordered a new control module and six plugs all Beru make, the ones the garage fitted were ngk and I’ve read in previous threads to avoid ngk and denso plugs. Again thank you for all the help cheers
