aftter a couple of cold days i found the sun was shining as it does now and again, so i decided to use the sun roof
when i got home and on closing it, to me it sounded like it was moaning and straining

is there any precautions i can take to make it more healthy sounding
as my pockets are non exsistant from previous burning holes in pockets

Just make sure the sunroof aperture and chrome runners are clean. I treat this as a polished part of the car as I personally find that any form of normal lubrication, i.e. silicone,grease,oil etc. will attract dirt. The only part that does receive lube via a cotton bud are the fulcrum points and their mating faces.

Lubricate, lubricate, lubricate! Search the forums for threads discussing technique and pros and cons of the different lubricants (MB is best if you can find it in small quantities).
