I tried to open the sunroof while showing some friends around the New Forest last week. Nothing happened. Tried several times but still nothing.

Later that afternoon the guy behind me gave me a blast on his horn as I turned right after indicating in good time. I stopped to find that the indicator lights on the dash weren't working. I asked one of my passengers to get out to confirm that the indicators weren't working and to see what else might have failed. The indicators were not working but the lights were fine.

Now for the odd bit. The passenger then got back in the car. I tried the indicators again and they worked fine as did the sunroof. The problem hasn't reoccurred.

Any thoughts?

Dirty fuses?
Water damage can wreak havock in the fuse box, make sure it is closed correctly.
A very lght coating of waxoyl will help keep electrical connections good.

Use a non drying switch cleaner on all of the fuses, always start with basics

Did you turn the vehicle off and restart it anytime that the indicators and everthing else was not working?

I pretty sure I didn't switched the engine off between noticing that the indicators weren't working and the passenger getting out and back in again.
(The interval here could have been no more than 2 or 3 minutes)

However the car had been parked 3 or 4 times over several hours between noticing that the sunroof wasn't working and it working again. What I don't know is at what point the indicators had stopped working. (I think I would have noticed much earlier if they had stopped working at the same time as the sunroof failed.)

I couldn't find any evidence of water ingress in any of the 3 fuseboxes and all the fuses were well seated. I'll bear in mind your tip about waxoyl. Thanks
