The sunroof on my S CLASS W220 2001 wont close properly.

It opens fully ok and slides back properly . It also tilt opens ok.
When I close it with one touch or full touch it slides close from back to front and opens up into the tilt position as it should and when it comes down to close fully it stops about 1 inch from close in tilt position.

I cant see any obstructions, and have tried the reset thing......holding open button for 5 secs and holding close button for 5 secs.

I have managed to get it in the close position by fidlling with the open/close button but the car still thinks it's open .........close sunroof warning message......when I take the key out !!

I took the key out the car when the sunroof was open if that is any help? The problem started after that

Any ideas folks ??

thanks

This excellent post might be the answer........... I didnt do the reset properly !!
http://www.benzworld.org/forums/2217418-post14.html

Synchronizing sliding/pop-up roof:
If the power supply was interrupted (battery disconnected or low), or if the sliding/pop-up roof is blocked during closing/opening procedure, the system has to be synchronized. To do so, turn electronic key in steering lock to position 2, move and hold switch in direction (3), until the sliding/pop-up roof is completely raised at rear, and hold for additional 1 second. If the pop-up roof simply will not open or close all the way after using this procedure, clean the tracks and lubricate them with the MB lubricant made for the purpose.

I have tried the reset and no luck. I have also lubricated and checked for any blockages.
I will try the manual key wind behind the overhead lighting panel cover.

Failing all above I am stumped :confused:

HELP !!!!!!!!

Thanks Malcolm for the details.

A battery disconnect could very well clear the OCP fault. Failing that a STAR diagnosis and or replacement of the OCP should do it.

Lets hope the battery disconnection works.

How do I disconnect the battery properly and what precautions do I need to take.

Will I need to reset a lot of things?? like in this link............http://www.benzworld.org/forums/2217418-post14.html

The only thing to set will be the steering and the windows and then the roof, if it will

Just take off one battery connection
