ANY engine can be fitted with a turbocharger or supercharger, it is just a question of how deep are your pockets and how fanatical are you willing to go.

But as a quick rough guide to the job.
1) does the car model that you have have a factory option for the same model.

2) If so you will need the turbo/supercharger.
3) Exhaust manifold(s) from the head to the turbo/supercharger.
4) Probably uprated injector and fuel pump (not always).
5) Larger exhaust pipe from Charger/ head to accommodate the greater output of the
engine.
6) maybe a new ecu or one from the other model.
7) You will need to reduce the compression ratio by quite a bit say from 10¦1 down to
8¦1. So head off machined by the right company, and the crankshaft and cylinders
looked at and or replaced.
8) Uprated oil pump, specialised oil cooler or even go to the cooling system from a donor
car. Intercooler fitted behind bumper and in front of radiator involves bodywork.
9) Somewhere to do the conversion.
10) Someone with the knowledge to perform the transition from NA to Tubby (turbo).

Cheapest solution is to go and buy a factory pre turbo or supercharged car.

I did this to a BMW 730 back in the day, I had to change the cylinder head from the 3.0 to the 745 head which was for a 728 engine. rebored, crank grind, Dynamic balance of the flywheel, crank, rods and pistons. the rebuild of the engine took 2 weeks, refitting in the car another 2 days, 5 days to fabricate a new exhaust then fix the electrics to and from the ECU about 5 days with an car electricien. Total time the car lasted before I blew the carp out of it 7 weeks and total cost over £10,000.00 was it worth it no. Did I go faster yes. Would I do it now NEVER AGAIN.

Hi,
You could/can buy a supercharger kit for the 320 v6engine but once you hear the price you
won,t want it even second hand if you could find one will be well over 3 figures.
Another option is to fit a C32 engine as these are already supercharged, but that would require an entire donor car to make sure you get all the electrical bits.
To be honest neither is cost effective especially with the price you can pick up an s class 500 of 55 AMG.

as above. to use a bolt on turbo set up like the turbo technics conversions I used to see knocking around, the increase in power was so slight (to avoid having to rebuild the engine to lower the compression) that it really isnt worth the outlay.

for example, i knew of a 2.0 DOHC 8 valve sierra, putting out about 120-130bhp standard. the guy had a turbo technics conversion done on a totally standard car and he also thought he knew best and had the boost increased further than intended. he ended up with about 165-170bhp and the requirement of replacing the head gasket once a month and 2 litres of oil every 3-400 miles (he filled the oil up when he filled the fuel tank)

at the time, similar performance gains (but perhaps not power gains) on an identical standard engine could be got by fitting a lightweight flywheel, improved cams and head rework, free flow exhaust and air filter and the usual stuff you start with on an EFI engine

Some engines can make incredible power with out being internally modified, others only small gains are possible, a low pressure increase say 7 psi of boost is fairly safe on a modern engine, but everything everyone else has said is correct, a huge amount if fab is needed unless parts are available off the shelf and the cost will be high.

Why not buy the engine and gearbox from the CL55K that's being broken up in the Sales section.
