Hi I am a new member and have a problem with the ride height of my Mercedes SL 320.

The car is about 20mm lower on the Drivers side than on the Passengers side.

My local Mechanic replaced both springs Driver and Passenger, with brand new Springs. To no avail the car is still sitting the exact same way.

I have measured from the bottom spring pan to the deck both sides and have found that the Drivers side is 18mm lower than the Passenger side. Seems I have found the problem but what causes it. ANY IDEAS

Hello and welcome,, do not forget that a rear spring can give the same effect, have you measured the rear of the car

Hi I have just checked the measurements between the back Driver and Passenger Wheels and the Arches and they are are the same no difference in height there. Just a difference between the fronts ride heights.

Those rubber "shims" are one area as they alter ride height on metal sprung vehicles. It is possible that you have one missing.

It is possible that the passenger side sits 20mm higher than it should.

Discount any effects of a fault shock absorber by disconnecting one end.

Ensure thatthe spring mounts look the same on both sides.

What concerns me is that you say that you've measured from the bottom of the spring to the floor.

Are you certain that your tyres and wheels are the same? Same pressure in the tyres as well.

Just to be safe, please double check that the upper spring mount is not becoming detached from the body.
I've not seen it happen on a 129 yet,but have on a few124's & 210's.
