Hi. I recently bought my first Mercedes, an '88 230 CE which has had the suspension lowered. This is a pain in the ass (and the head) as every time I go over a speed hump I bang my head on the roof. Basically I'm looking to replace the lowered springs with original spec springs and was wondering where to source the parts? Dealer or motor factor?
Also there is a bump when changing gear seems like a recon gearbox is required does anyone know where I can get one supplied/fitted.
Cheers
Chris

Hmmm surely changing the springs wont stop your head being close to the roof?

Have you adjusted the seat height using the lever on the right of the seat base near the sill. (you can lower the seat by about 3 inches or so.)

Hi,
Yours has probably had a lowering kit fitted, shorter + stiffer springs with sports dampers but probably still the original roll bars. If so you would need to change the springs and dampers to get back to standard. The original Bilsteins are available much cheaper from ECP. but I suggest you go to MB for the springs as aftermarket ones tend to be of variable rate and quality.
