Folks I am thinking of swapping my S320 for E320 petrol 26k miles (2003) avantgarde

I asked the dealer for all info on any recalls on the car and any faults fixed .
One recall was done and the brake master slave cylinder was replaced.
Any thing to look out for in this model?

thanks

Why on earth would you do that? I liked the E class a lot when I had one in 2004 (an E270cdi) but I wouldn't swap my current S class.
However, if you are changing, test drive the Elegance model. You will find the Elegance ride much more like the S class. The Avantgarde is harsh over England's lousy roads. Air suspension on the E is good but hard to find.

Oddly the amazing Mercedes diesels offer more performance than the petrols and much better economy of course. For example, on the Merc website you will see that the 3 litre diesel offers more performance than the 3.5 litre petrol. How times have changed.

I too would have thought you'd find the E a bit basic after the S. I wouldn't be happy to go to a C now, even though I loved my original one. Its what you get used to. Anyway, assuming you have driven and like the E, the only thing to check is what the history is. Some 2003 models were a bit dodgy and had a lot of work done, post 04 were better. That said, the old man has an 03 E220 and it's been fine.
