This is a poor show from Mercedes, you would think they could get this sorted, probably not at a price people want to pay, but better than the car being a paperweight.

Thank goodness my R129 is so old that it’s before the era of transponder keys!

Yep mine is a switchblade with a single button but aside from remote unlocking (which if I had to I could get around) the key doesn't stop me using a pure metal key to start the car.

Yep mine is a switchblade with a single button but aside from remote unlocking (which if I had to I could get around) the key doesn't stop me using a pure metal key to start the car.

I still have the emergency key sealed in plastic, it’s pure metal, no fob at all.

I think you were supposed to keep it in your wallet?
