Sorry, it was not a moment of sarcasm, the title I mean, however as reported, Swmbo has had a change of heart regarding my purchase of the UnMerc.
I took her out for a drive of the TT and with a totally innocent look on her face, she reported, "Wow, this is a really nice car to drive, dear....... what do you think the neighbours would say if we had two of them parked outside the front door?"
To say I was gobsmacked would certainly be an understatement you could have knocked me down with a feather.
Last night we were out doing shopping in the TT and, again I got the "This is nice, I could get used to one of these."
So, I said to her "Do you really want one then?" And she replies "Why are you fed up with yours already?" Meaning she would take it and I could get something else.
"No dear, quite the contrary", says I, "I like it more each time I drive it, I was just thinking of starting to look for one for you, I don't even mind if you get a newer one than mine as long as you're happy".
The only reply I got was "hmmm....as long as it's not red or white." Which, if you knew my S.O. means it is being given serious consideration.
Now my nearest and dearest drives like a man, I mean this as no disrespect, it's one of the reasons I can sit beside her while she's driving and be completely relaxed. I've also learned that there's a time to talk and a time to kept your mouth shut, this was one of the latter, despite the serious almost overwhelming compunction to blurt out, "Aye, so what happened to this is a girls car then?" as it would no doubt backfire on me with some serious sarcasm something along the lines of "Am I not a girl then? or some such nonsense" as I think she would like and enjoy a TT of her own. Basically I don't really want her driving mine as she is not as alloy conscious as I am, I've lost count of how many times I've repaired the alloys on her car, it's always the o/s/f one too, for some weird reason.
We shall see what develops, hers is due for trade in/replacement in the next month or so. We could become a two TT family.
