Sorry, it was not a moment of sarcasm, the title I mean, however as reported, Swmbo has had a change of heart regarding my purchase of the UnMerc.

I took her out for a drive of the TT and with a totally innocent look on her face, she reported, "Wow, this is a really nice car to drive, dear....... what do you think the neighbours would say if we had two of them parked outside the front door?"

To say I was gobsmacked would certainly be an understatement   you could have knocked me down with a feather.

Last night we were out doing shopping in the TT and, again I got the "This is nice, I could get used to one of these."
So, I said to her "Do you really want one then?" And she replies "Why are you fed up with yours already?" Meaning she would take it and I could get something else.
"No dear, quite the contrary", says I, "I like it more each time I drive it, I was just thinking of starting to look for one for you, I don't even mind if you get a newer one than mine as long as you're happy".

The only reply I got was "hmmm....as long as it's not red or white." Which, if you knew my S.O. means it is being given serious consideration. :)

Now my nearest and dearest drives like a man, I mean this as no disrespect, it's one of the reasons I can sit beside her while she's driving and be completely relaxed. I've also learned that there's a time to talk and a time to kept your mouth shut, this was one of the latter, despite the serious almost overwhelming compunction to blurt out, "Aye, so what happened to this is a girls car then?" as it would no doubt backfire on me with some serious sarcasm something along the lines of "Am I not a girl then? or some such nonsense" as I think she would like and enjoy a TT of her own. Basically I don't really want her driving mine as she is not as alloy conscious as I am, I've lost count of how many times I've repaired the alloys on her car, it's always the o/s/f one too, for some weird reason.

We shall see what develops, hers is due for trade in/replacement in the next month or so. We could become a two TT family. :D

Give her your TT and get into a V8 Mercedes before its too late.
You know it makes sense.
A nice E63 Coupé, like this for example.

Nothing wrong with having 2 cars the same!

I have 2 C70's on the drive (and the S70). People do stop and stare in a confused way at times but, its what works for you is all that matters.

I'm also patiently waiting to find a DSK worthy CLS55, if this goes to plan, there will 2 x CLS's on the drive too.

I actually like having two cars of the same type, it's less for me to relearn come service time and when having to do any repairs to the brakes or shocks for example. Swmbo's the one who usually digs her foot in and goes against it. She thinks it looks a bit naff, where as I couldn't give a ....monkeys.

A lot of women seem to like TTs for some reason, my wife's friend always hankered after one and her hairdresser has one..

As for V8 how about this, it may be coming on the market now it has reached 50k miles....

Does it still ?, they have had enough time to address the issues surely
They repaint them... well they repaint the metal bits and leave the plastic so you get a two tone car :(

A friends brother had his W204 re-painted and they (The nominated Paint Shop that is) did do an excellent job which he was delighted with it. I must say after seeing it I would agree with him. It was just the inconvenience of it all that left stain so to speak. :)

50k, only just run in
I normally sell my cars at 6 years/60k miles to avoid any large running bills. Having said that this car so far has not cost anymore than 2x tyres and 2x brake pads plus regular services so I am tempted to keep longer than usual.

It is by far the best car I have ever owned in thrills per mile, looks and comfort, maybe upgrade wife's to a family SUV and keep this as a Sunny day runner...

Stick £1k in a bank account every year and keep it just in case, you buy a new one and loose a fortune so spend less on any repairs (If needed).

It is a lovely car

Fire Opal /Mars Red was withdrawn a while ago now and replaced by Hyacinth Red.
Not so bright as the Fire Opal and I really like it.
