Hi just a quick thought but would it be possible to drill a hole in the torque converter to drain the fluid and then use a rubber bung to seal it after or am I in cuckoo land again.

very cuckoo. take off one of the box oil cooler pipes and turn the engine over to pump the remaining oil out of the TC

There is some merit in this, after all MB used to put a drain plug in the TC.
Problems are:
TC spins at engine revs so rubber bung would be popped out by the centrifuged ATF.
You could drill and tap for a drain plug but the risk of shavings in the gearbox is too high.
Also the drain plug might upset the balance of the spinning TC.
So good idea but no cigar.
