i had brought a C32 AMG two weeks ago, the car got delivered to my local dealer from scotland last week, and i was told then that they could not sell me the car due to the following faults...

- steering rack was gone needed a new one.
- gearbox was gone needed a new one.
- rear diff was making a loud noise.
- ARB's were some how damaged.
- engine was misfiring needed new coil packs.

in the end i had my deposit given back to me. my fathers mate who is a trader had a E500 Advantguard come in and ended up buying that...

Your point being?

I think your local dealer did you a big service, nice to see they didn't just pass it on and then deal with the consequences later. I guess it would have cost them a sale but saved them the aggravation of warranty paperwork

I'm a little surprised at this, the cynic in me thinks that the local dealer would rather you had one of their cars...
Looking at the pictures you posted of the C32 it is part of the Mercedes Approved Scheme so I do wonder if it really is as bad as your local dealer has made out.

Sounds like somebody else put a much better offer in to buy it!

Just like the housing market i think you have been GAZZUMPED!

The E500 looks nice and in my opinion a much better purchase.

i think that the cost to put the car right would have been more than the profit margin that your dealer had built into the car when you originally "done the deal" ie:it would have cost them money to sell you the car by the time they had put a warranty on it and paid the repair bill etc etc.

I would rather have the E class anyway, looks a nice car.

the bill was between £3500-£4000 and the dealers had brought the car in for £12000 and sold it to me for £14000. so yeh your right in that sense.

nah, two weeks one the car still parked up in that oen spot, waiting to go to auction, i started it up and had a look around my self, the steering was making a real bad clunking noise and the car did rev freely reved worse that a non-turbo diesel.
