So, I’ve been accused of talking balls often enough, but this time I’d like you guys to talk to me about ball joints.
I’ve developed a very familiar creak at low speed, when going over a speed bump and when steering, that might indicate the lower ball joint on my OSF is shot.
I’ve had a quick inspection and after a fair bit of groaning (from me this time, not the car!) I’m fairly sure that’s what it is. A good bounce on the wing delivers the famous creak that these always seem to give. I’ve also been experiencing some “toe in” wear on the front tyre inner tread.
Having spent a fair bit of time tearing my hair out doing a pair of these on my old W126 (where I swear the buggers were welded into the hubs!), I’m looking for a bit of firsthand advice from anyone who’s actually done the job. I’ve got the press to take them out and fit replacements, but am wondering if I’m going to regret going down this path again.
Any thoughts welcome!

Best Bertie
