If you are sure you don't need it (don't have an after market car kit) then by all means chop it and stuff the wire back behind the A pillar. It's just a thin coax, there's no current to worry about.
People rarely take them out when they remove kits as you can't easily re-use them and they're cheap enough to just buy new.
You could always remove it once you've cut the wire. the other end will be hanging around above the passenger kick panel so in theory it should just pull out. But removing it can be tricky if they've taped it up anywhere so be careful tugging it or you may dislodge something important!.

Re-stickying a tax disc holder aerial

I have a tax disc holder aerial for my phone kit which has lost it's stickyness and lies atop the dash looking very forlorn. Still seems to function OK, it just won't stick to the screen. :(

Is it possible to buy double-sided sticky patches to re-attach it to the windscreen? I know I could use regular double-sided tape, but I can't help feeling that'd object to the heat a closed car is subjected to when the sun occasionally shows its face.

As an aside, I have to get the windscreen replaced in the next few days (pre-MOT) so I suppose it's not impossible Auto Windscreens/Autoglass/whatever they're called may be able to help?

Any advice very gratefully received.

Edit [Apologies - I thought I was making a new post, not a reply.]

Use a bit of adhesive - one blob top and bottom should hold it. Auto windscreens should have something though as not being able to reattach such things must be common problem.
Failing that, a new ariel/holder is very cheap and they're really easy to fit so I'd probably just replace it for a nice shiny new one. To be fair, whilst it may not be sticky enough to attach to the screen, I'd imagine it has got lots of dust stuck to it and will look yellow on your nice new screen.

New or glue

I got as far as ordering one on flea-bay but I baulked at taking the dash to bits to find where it's plugged in.

If AW can't solve the problem, a couple of blobs of glue it is!

pound to a penny - drop the under-dash tray on the passenger side and the box its plugged into will drop down with it (or it will be taped up just above). They almost always are as its the easiest place to put them.

Many thanks for the hot tip.
I want to remove the cradle (I only ever use the bluetooth interface) so, if it's there, that'll save me a lot of hassle.

if you want to put the aerial/tax disc holder back on the screen either go to hellfords or talk to the windscreen fitter nicely and get some of the sticky pads they use to reposition interior rear view mirrors

edit: i was told by the fitter who fitted the tracker systems to our work trucks that you shouldnt use a tax disc aerial with some mercs as they can interfere with the airbag system ie fire it off:sad:
