Hi everyone, just bought a 100k mile 260e w124, heater and everything ok, does not lose coolant, but temp gauge moves only about 2mm (below the 40 mark) when ignition turned on and stays there regardless. have replaced the single pin sensor on cylinder head, now suspect the gauge? do these gauges fail, and also can it be swapped independantly of the speedo as i would like to keep history etc genuine! any help or input appreciated!

if the temp gauge sensor is only single wire then it is prob a temperature cotrolled resistor.

by grounding the wire the gauge should read to maximum.

obviously make sure you have identified the correct sensor before making this test
