Am I being paranoid?

I drive 32 miles a day. today being a warmer day than usual i noticed the temp when driving around town (slow- stop- start etc) crept above the usual just below 80 to approx 87.

is this normal?

yes and yes, basically. we all worry about harming our cars but as long as its below 100 its nothing to worry about. and yes its quite normal. the heat generated from your engine is taken by the coolant, but as less air is passing through the radiator due to slowing down, the temp rises for a while. perfectly normal and harmless

One of the better things about merc,s, very very rare for a overheat problem!!

I would be happier with it running near the 90c mark

I beleive we have a switch which will turn the fan on at 100 Degree. It is quiet normal to be over 80 mark when stuck in traffic.

As Sam/Unit advised, very very rare for MB to overheat
