Jason if I’m reading this wrong apologies but there will be a lower temperature in the underground parking than outside in the open air, when I reverse out of my garage the temperature rises by quite a few degrees.

The displayed car temperature is often at variance to the temperature shown on my outdoor thermometer, the car is to me only an indicator I never take it as exact.

I know this is only a reference temperature display
I don't want to display the external temperature correctly
Driving on urban roads, why the temperature display will not work
But the temperature display on the highway will jump normally

Outside temp sensor is a guide,

if its parked in the sun or in a cold area it will give interesting figures for quite some time.... you need to drive above 20mph for 20 minutes for it to stabilise - then it has a chance to produce valid figures...

some tractors have been giving odd results.... with the EU on their tale, Mercedes are re writing the engine management map to remove the naughty emission fiddle where the outside temp was designed to LIE about its readings to the engine management computer, allowing it to drive nicely (whilst polluting way past emission regs), it appears after a certain timeframe the software throws a wobble and the temp reading goes silly.

That sounds to me sounds like a subversive engineer wanted the fiddle to come out in the open and wrote a time limit on its naughty behaviour....

looks like mostly impacted 2014 to 2018 https://mbworld.org/forums/attachme...53122774-bulletins-213-ecu-os-temp-sensor.pdf
