Took my C230 Sport to MBS at Southampton on Saturday, 200 miles return journey.
Reason I was concerned over the way the 7G gearbox was functioning. They did the necessary diagnostics, found no relevant faults, so went on a road test then back on the Diagnostic and still nothing apparent. Good check over.
Conclusion the gear box is fine.
So I am a happy bunny, they have put my mind at rest. All this for the grand sum of £25:00 including the use of their exclusive management loos.

Many thanks guys.

You may not have noticed, but when you were in the executive loo, they were taking the p***!

Only kidding (honest) - always good to hear a good news story to balance out all the folks who are dissatisfied with other suppliers.

But what were the symptoms that concerned you as from what you say nothing was actually fixed? How old is the car? I only ask because there are faults which do not show up on the diagnostics and which have been the subject of several software upgrades. If you need these updates, they are done free at MB dealers (usually when you are being serviced). I've driven several models with the 7 speed box, which had faults, and these were corrected by the updates. One prevalent fault is jerky changes, intermittently, especially at lower speeds and when slowing down.

All the up-dates had been done!

Dave just wanted someone who knew the box to confirm that the box was good!

Sorry to say, Dave is to light with the throttle

The car is 100% and the box changes as it should!!

It's very odd, especially on a Mercerdes, famed for their auto-boxes, that an owner should think there might be a fault where none exists.

IIRC those with a light throttle foot also used to think that 124 series cars did not accelerate well. They do, but you have to be Teutonic with the throttle! ;)

There has been more problems on this box than any other, many feel a little nervous about them, it can be re assuring to be told that it is fine

i totally agree with you Malcolm and that is exactly what i have done with my clk. The local dealer plugged it in checked everything was ok and reset it for me as i thought it was i little jerky on 2nd to 1st. ( done under warrenty so no charge )

Hence my earlier posting which said: -

The teething troubles certainly lasted a long time,,a good 722.6 box is so very smooth
