The 43 is dead (in some cars), long live the 53

So it’s really a 32 not a 53 with a 3 litre engine ;)

Funnily enough, this qualifies under the 2040 UK proposal as a non conventional car ;)

Yip saw that yesterday Jon....why on earth do we need a 53 now?
Seems like the complications in purchasing an MB have increased somewhat...
Wonder is this one will get the badge, is it a real AMG?
Guess I’ll find out in May when I’m in Affalterbach - I can see if any 53 engines are being built there...

In saying that, I did comment recently that if MB did a E63 cab i’d Be tempted....

They never have though which is weird, maybe is would hit the SL a bit hard in the sales, even the E500 cab is a rare beast, did they do a E63 coupe at all???

Surely it should be a 30AMG and the current 63AMG should be a 40AMG??????
Welllllllll there’s enough precedent for the 32 to be called a 32: 3.2 being replaced by a 3.0 in the lineup, but the 63 shouldn’t be a 63, the 6.3 engine was killed off and the hole plugged by an already existing size of engine.

The 63 should never have been a 63 as it was a 6.2 V8, what should the A45 really be then???

So the 53 should be a 32 and the 63 should be a 42 if you take the 4 as the engine size and 2 as the number of turbos?? then the A/CLA/GLA45 should be the 21

Not at all confusing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, which I’ve always thought weird. After all the SL has 2 seats and the cab has 4, which I’d find useful.
They currently do a 400 which is rare too...

And mine should be an E55 AMG....wait a minute that’s been used!
Mercedes in certain cases seem to have been using the excuse of ‘it’s the equivalent power of this engine size’ - examples in the Hybrids - the C350e isn’t of course a 3.5, but actually a 2.0 with an electric motor making it ‘feel’ like a 3.5. Complete toss in this example of course ar its a 4 pot and any decent 3.5 will be 6 or more....

It appears MB are going back to IL6 engines, the new CLS is the first to have it installed
