I could scarcely believe it.

A friend popped round in the week to show off his new acquisition - a 61-plate E220CDI W212. Very nice!

What I had trouble with was the sat nav in the Audio50 APS. Back to 5-digit postcodes! The letters 'W', 'T' and 'F' came to mind - in that order too.

I thought we had grown out of this nonsense?

Could it have been a 125 edition which came with the "mini command" system?

Even my 07 CL has 5 digits, as I never go anywhere these days it does not matter :D

Audio 50 has always been 5 digit postcode. If he got Comand it would been 7 digit.

I know Comand now does the 7-digits, but is it really beyond the wit of man to get Audio50 to do the same? It's the 21st century after all!

If both did the same would as many people pay extra for Comand?

Edition 125 was a special model available in 2011, they have extra kit as standard like Comand.

Edition 125 on the E class had Audio 50 as standard - COMAND was still an upgrade option. The C class 125 edition had COMAND as standard.

The facelift 212 now has COMAND as standard across the range, albeit at the expense of some other features that were standard (such as intelligent lighting or the AG and Sport)

Cheers,
Bill

I stand corrected - thanks Bill.

A basic Tom Tom does 7 digits and has done so for ages. Mental.

But I think I know who the OP is referring too, I haven't seen the car but I believe its a very nice car and pre facelift 212 has ILS and looks so much better

Thats odd my 2010/11 C200 SE with comand only has 5 digit postcode. How strange. Anyway it seems a bit hap hazard as our 2009 B180 Sport with Comand has 7 digit postcode. Has anyone come across a fix for this as surely in this day and age it can't be beyond the capabilities of man

No fix for it, the same on the CL it took till the end of 2010 to get 7 digits

The sat nav in my W124 uses all 7 digits of postcode, it's a navman. I would never have such rubbish as command. It beggars belief that MB could fob off owners with such a poor system.

The COMAND 2.5 in my 2008 E320 has 7 digit and re-routes around heavy traffic. It's also voice activated, which is very useful, and is very accurate.

However, it does seem daft that any satnav these days is 5 digit, especially in an MB.

The NTG4 came out before NTG2.5 which is why it had 5 digit. Mercedes fitted NTG4 until the facelift in the W204 (so mid 2011), but in other models from MY09 COMAND units like NTG2.5 and NTG3.5 are all 7 digit. NTG4.5 is 7 digit.

sat nav

Hi, I have Garmin sat navs, and I have a Jag XJR with sat nav, both 7 characters. What is the point of 5 character sat nav, and how do you use it if say you have a post code CH43 7LD ? Maybe I am going to order my next car from NASA with space GPS installed in it, and then perhaps I could time travel home /
Regards, parkman
