A few weeks ago my wife ran over a pheasant in her Mini, she could not avoid it due to car coming other way, she does hate to run any thing over.
A couple of days later she rang me at work to say the tyre flat indicator had come on , i said not to worry and i will check when i get home. Checked all the tyres and the front drivers side was 4 psi down on the rest, pumped it up, and reset light and all good.
Then last week she called me at work again to say that the ABS light was on as well as engine management light. So told her to park it at home and use daughters car.
Put my scanner on it and it gave "wheel speed sensor fault".
Jacked up front drivers side and removed wheel, and arch trim and discovered that the Pheasant had entered that bit of the car, ripping all the wiring from the holders and the ABS sensor wiring had been cut through by the flywheel pulley.
New Sensor, tidy and fix all wiring and re attach to body, changed aux belt whilst in there, all back together, reset fault and all good.
Cost £46.00 all in and my time.

****** sight cheaper than hitting a fox, which i did years ago in our Astra Estate. That ended up as an insurance claim for a new front bumper amongst other bits! Happened at night on the way home from a booze cruise, damage not immediately obvious in the dark, car drove home OK, but next morning in my garage in decent light was an "Oh Bugger!!" moment!

Getting hungry....I had a friend who was a hunter and every year, I got a venison hindquarter from him. We had a little ritual where we'd bbq a couple of fillets sliced into disks with butter and eat them right off the bbq (Korean style) with a good bottle of red.

ha ha.
I knew a bloke who had a BMW X3.
I say had, he hit a badger at speed, solid little buggers, after the damage was looked at, car was written off due to not only cost of bumper and paint, but radiator, intercooler, and condenser plus fixing of a lot of wiring.
He was really upset !!!!!

Bit of a problem with your accounts you haven't deducted the value of the pheasant !

It was quite common for my father to "go for" pheasants whilst crossing rural areas near us.

He would stop, chuck them in the boot and all with the nonchalance of shopping in Tesco's

You don't want to hit a camel, that's for sure! Many years ago an aquaintance was driving back to Doha from Dukhan at night in a little 2 door Alfa coupe and hit one - camel's legs hit the bonnet and the body came down on the windscreen/roof, luckily there was no-one in the passenger seat so driver was able to throw himself sideways and avoided injury! Not only was the car a real mess, but when it came to the insurance claim the camel owner swore up down and sideways that the camel was a racing she camel in young, paying him off cost the insurers more than fixing the car!

Of course you could always try for a red kite:

(The bird was released and it flew away a sort distance but was recaptured and collected by the RSPB).

Pretty normal for the ME (camel owners are all liars) Any animal whose body line is above the bonnet is bad news in a head on. Camels are fairly predictable, my worst were kangaroos.......you could drive past one and then hear it thump into the side of your car,,,,

In terms of ME and camels, I'll never forget our Scottish doctor in Dukhan (Qatar, opposite side of the peninsula to Doha) commenting one night in the bar "It's amazing how far and fast a camel can run on it's 2 front legs when you've just put a .303 round up it's a$se!!"
