i keep hearing that everyone says that the difference between a 190e and a 190 is that the E is fuel injected and the 190 is a carb model!   now i dont wanna sound stupid here but ive had two 190e,s in the last 18months and they both had carbs and they were both E,s..
one was a 1986 auto model and the one im driving now is a 1987 manual one! could anyone enlighten me further to this topic.

many thanx as always to the replies to this topic!

Weird - the E stands for "Einspritzung" - meaning both those 190E's were badge-tuned..

Geezer.

I did actually think the same when i got mine, as the injection system looks incredibly like a carb set up. Whip the large airfilter off, and you are confronted with a silver barrel type affair with the hole covered by a large gold disc, which moves up and down when the throttle is pressed. This is the Bosch K Jetronic single point mechanical fuel injection system. It looks a lot different to Electronic Multipoint systems that are fitted to other cars. Trust me, your E's have been injected (allbeit a primitive set up) unless of course they have had replacement badges fitted to them which are wrong.
