Promise: no jokes about hearing a pin drop ... Probably a quality problem and it was ready to break for ages and Mr Murphy came out when your car was clouted. Glad you solved it though.

So today I found the cause of the boot lid not lifting....
The passenger side ram that opens the boot has a pin through into the frame. The pin has sheared for some reason :(

Now just need to find out why. Any suggestions?

Yep, lose the boot spoiler LK, obviously far to heavy for the pin!!! :D

The pin in the top of the ram should be in the hole in the frame fortunately looks like an easy fix with a stick welder.

All this lovely sunshine and I've had to use the S204 all weekend instead of the SLK - the joys of having family visiting (staying nearby) and needing to transport this, that and herself's shoes and/or leave parking space on the driveway. They're off home tomorrow so hopefully the sunshine stays so I can get the SLK out, especially as our favourite pubs have big gardens so a ride and a pint is possible!!
