It comes across as if the old Top Gear has had a load of money thrown at it (£200 Million apparently), been given the gloss of american production values and then dumbed down to avoid the widest possible demographic having to strain a brain cell.

It's not as if TG was ever exactly highbrow, but with all the loony stunts - amphibious cars, the 'Hammerhead Eagle i-thrust' electric vehicle, the 'Hovervan' etc.etc. - there was always a part of you that wanted to see just how far they got before it all went pear-shaped. The track and road tests of exotic automobilia had enough in them to turn us into pub bores on cars we had never driven and were certainly never likely to own.

The Grand Tour stunts are merely farce; from the outset we know it's just a bunch of old blokes farting about. There's no logical - or even illogical - outcome or conclusion to be reached. The 'environmentally friendly' cars in episode 4 were simply ridiculous, and what mind thought that weighing cars against animals last week was 'entertaining'? And am I the only one completely missing the point of 'dead' celebrities?

The three guys are perpetually in hyper mode (presumably to justify their salaries to their american employers) but the whole show lacks any measure of the mild understatement and the 'Heath Robinson' props that characterised Top Gear (at least until the unfortunate 're-born' series)

The whole thing comes across as a desperate attempt to not be Top Gear while actually being a Top Gear clone with more gloss and less entertainment. Perhaps in the next series the producers have a rethink and tone down the slapstick and show a bit more creativity.

Its a poke at the BBC. Apparently they can't have a Stig (TG copyright), Star in a reasonably priced car (TG copyright), guest celebrities (TG copyright) etc etc.

The whole thing is one massive poke at the BBC still trying to tell them what they can and can't do on their show.

Well I watched the first 28 mins of the first episode on the 16th November and haven't revisited it since. It's a bit like the NHS - just throwing more money at something doesn't necessarily make it better...

I think they need a pause. They have a lot of pretty good content, they also have a fair bit of dreary content. It needs stitching together better and a bit more direction given IMO.

I downloaded a few episodes, only watched 2 of them. Thought the second one was pretty stupid so doubt I will watch any more

Essentially its a small android computer running an app called Kodi (you can also install Kodi to a PC, Mac, laptop, tablet or phone). The app allows plugins (addons in Kodi speak) to be installed to add further functionality. Exodus is such an addon and it is a portal to various sites that offer streaming video content for free. To install from fresh is a bit geeky but relatively easy.

You can buy pre-installed boxes with apps already loaded for not much money - see the link above. Simply connect to your TV, configure to use your WiFi/network and you're up and running in no time.

Got it now, oh a bit controversial..............

Its one of those things that falls neatly down the cracks of copyright law.
Its not illegal to have or use a Kodi box, nor is it illegal to view the streamed data. Its illegal to host the data but as a streaming user thats not your concern outside of the possibility the content could be shutdown. .

Brilliant bit of kit, have had one for over two years, recommended them to friends and they were so impressed several froends have purchased the pre Loaded boxes and are having great fun with them.

Watched the two-part Xmas special yesterday, for me it was as good of a special as any of the old episodes, very much enjoyed.
