Hi all. I've just bought a 1983 500 SEC which I am repairing on a rolling ongoing basis. I have just replaced the original wheels with 17" turbine wheels which look amazing. I have just 1 problem: the front hub bearing caps are too large for the wheels and are pushing out the wheel centre caps. Any one have any ideas how I can tidy this up and have it looking "right" all round please?

Welcome to the forum, by how much are they pushing them off, if it is by say the last 5 to 10mm that pushes them off, you could use wheel spacers but they must be hubcentric

Looks like at least 30mm I'm afraid.

The only thing that I can think of is on some cars, not MB, some Fords I think had those big chrome centers or you make something. They are 66mm diameter from memory, BMW and some VWs have the same centers, Have a look on Ebay wheels for some ideas, you can buy the stars on there own

Requires special 126 specific spacers that also incorporate a cap that replaces the existing bearing dust cap. We have 20mm version in stock. Please clarify which "turbine" wheels you have. They are AMG V 18" - are they 14/16/22 spoke and part number and I can advise.

They are 17". A smaller version of the 20" turbines as fitted to the SLR with 9 spokes. Thanks for the replies. JB

Hi Chris, did you see my reply? I don't have a part number I am afraid. They are as stated; 17" wheels a smaller version of the SLR wheel. They look great on the car but would be better if both front and rear had the caps fitted. Can you help please? JB

Hi John
It could be possible to machine hub bearing caps with clearance to accept the wheel internal diameter then joint the hub bearing cap to the wheel centre cap and create the correct length.
I need some pics of the items dimension etc.
(Could be no need for spacers to fix two bit's of plastic)
