The inappropriate badging thread

Mercedes numbers on badges no longer match engine sizes in the newer cars.

The same with most BMWs and Audis these days I think. My petrol C300 is also two litres, but the power and performance are about equal to its 3 litre predecessor, maybe with better mpg. It's not the same 2 litre as older cars though, hopefully an improvement, and it does feel quite smooth and refined, pokey enough too.

Yep and 55's are 5.4l, 43's are 3.0l it goes on and on.

Driving home from Brizzle this evening, and had to give my eyes a scrape.

Sat at traffic lights, I look at cars opposite and there sits a W219 CLS... with an RS badge glued to the grille!

Not quite sure what he was aiming for there...???

I think this started back in the '60's with Mercedes 300SEL 6.3, 280 SE 3.5, 450 SEL 6.9, 250 compact 2.8 and so on right up to new Mercedes of today
