This thread is a hoot! I genuinely remember my friends dad, circa 1980 ish arguing with his wife (who I have now known for 45 years) about which new company car to have next. The choice was a Citroën or Ford (I am certain it was a Cortina) and she insisted on the Ford as it had a badge denoting GL, or Lux or whatever it was back then! I was only 8 but I do remember that the Ford turned up a few weeks later with a shiny badge on the back! Badge was critical back then it seems. The AMG badge on that Polo is hilarious :)
I want to see a Fiat 500 with a AMG/Brabus badge! Now that would be a laugh!!

Back then on the current model Cortina the model options would have been L, GL, GLS and Ghia. The 'S' pack may have been available on other trim specs but I only ever seen it as the GLS.
The last run out models were badged Crusader and Carousel.
I loved the Cortina. :)

Yes i remember the MKV Models, did lots of paintwork on those, i remember The Ford dealership i worked at had lots of MKV Cortina's to shift as the new Sierra models were coming in, all the Cortina's were in Midnight blue, inc a few Capri's, so guess who had to two tone these in silver on the bottom half?? And finish off with a pin strip on top to finnish it off?? Yep...Muggins here! ...still....kept me busy and earned a shed load of money whilst at it! ....once did a Granada in Sable brown and did lower half in Oyster Gold....did look nice actually ....ahhh those were happy times :)

Not down at the Ford dealer i was working at? Was it the Chicken Chasseur range? Ha! .
Only did a couple of Granada's like that , Roman Bronze was another Mettallic brown ripe for two tone work which looked very effective when done properly

As you can see it was an official model, so maybe the dealer you worked at was getting you to do some snide copies :D

Ahh i remember them now, but never paid attention to the range name, the two tone one's i did were from halfway up the sides to the swauge line, and midnight blue ones from the bottom section of doors in Strato Silver
