I am back with MB after a long period out of the fold. Having now had my 2007 C320CDI for just over a month and having covered 3000 miles I have to admit, I am impressed. That is apart from the fourth day of ownership when the car was off the road for five days waiting for a starter motor!

My question is - are there any known problems with the new V6 3.0 diesel engine? Is there anything that I should look out for?

Question not answer I'm afraid. How smooth is it? Got a 270CDI 5 in line at the moment and it's a bit off-putting compared to Petrol, especially when cold. Having said that I don't mind the push in the back on acceleration and I certainly don't mind not stopping at garages. I'd like to really combine all the benefits.

There is no comparison. The 270 is smooth and quiet enough once running though I agree, when cold it is a bit tractor like and even when warm, you'd never mistake it for a petrol. Still it's gutsy enough and the economy is good.
The V6 is a different class. A friend has an E with this motor. I walked past the car and got in. Closed the door and waited for him to start in up. He didn't need to, it was already running! You wouldn't make that mistake with my E270.
He also seems to get a better overall mpg than me and there is no way I'd keep up with him if he was trying.
Nuff said really.

The only issue I have is trying to keep the speed down....
Fixed servicing at 15.5K miles - although it is always a "B" service, the oil is more expensive as well.

Thanks Guys. Don't know if we've helped G15SEE, but I'm impressed. I'm 18 months or so from changing and I think the 320CDI may be the one.
