I have to say i was upset when Mercedes unveiled the new Sprinter. They've gone and done away with the traditional body style that has become so well known since 1995, and made it look like the new style Vito.

The Sprinter is no doubt my favourite MB vehicle, i have a fleet of 8 in my PC Repair company, plus a 316CDi i use as my own personal van, which i have modded and modified.

The only changes Mercedes made to the Sprinter was in 2000, when they made the front end curvier, with the slanting headlamps, and the cute little dome over the instrument panel, and introduced several new engines, and the CDi injection technology, which made the engines much more reliable and responsive. I fell in love with the new look Sprinty, and bought one as soon as they were released.

I don't know why Mercedes did it, but i won't buy a new one!

I have got to admit that the new looks are growing on me. I too love the face lifted original sprinter and feel that the relaunch effort should have been put into improving the outgoing model and raising the quality/reliability standards even further. However, I dont suppose the V6 diesel would have fitted into the old shell (gimme, gimme, gimme).

Just as an aside, The only one I have seen in the real world and not as a demonstrator had lost the indicator out of the drivers mirror. That didn't take long and no doubt the driver will be given some grief by his employers although I don't think he will be the last!!!

Indicators in van mirrors are a really bad idea. I was under the impression that van mirrors were a consumable item ;). Any electronic additions are only going to put the replacement costs up, although MB may have done this to get the bottom line figure up. Cheap van and expensive replacements ??

I used to do about 1mpa (mirror per annum) on the old 307D and when I went to purchase a 2001 sprinter I 1st went to the parts desk and priced up the mirror parts before signing on the dotted line. I since haven't lost a single mirror in 5 years and 185k but will probably knock both off tomorrow now I have drawn attention to the fact :-? .

Why do I keep taunting fate? She always gets her own back!

I did this today while exiting a tight loading bay with one eye on an MD's car on my left and the other eye on a delivery wagon backing round the corner to my right.

Luckily I sourced and fitted the LED side marker lights so I can replace that and touch-in the scrapes. I would only really get upset if I managed to mark the cab as it is immaculate.

One day I will learn to keep my mouth shut.

Why do Sprinter owners always damage thier vans?

2003 Sprinter 316 with all the extras, SERIOUSLY GOOD (and seriously long list of warranty repairs! )

LOL Sprint N Go, you must be a bad driver! Is your Sprinter a LWB? Mine is, it's a year old, a 05 reg, 316CDi and i've had no scrapes done to it, although i did roll my co managers 311CDi down an embankment when i was ****ed off!

Nearly every Sprinter i see has damage to it, and i have never accidentally hit anything in mine!

The embankment roll really made me pleased with MB, the 2 airbags in the cockpit plus the windowbags saved my life!

I mustn't get into a habit of rolling Sprinters down embankments though, it costs a fortune having them fixed! ;) That was my only accident, and i've never had any accidents in my wife's car, which is a Subaru Impreza 2002, 260bhp Twin Turbo!

Go figure!
