The Previous Life of 2nd Hand Parts

Bought a replacement centre console switch for the SL, delivered from Estonia.
Part was/is 2nd hand from a breaker and needed a good clean on arrival.

Unfortunately it soon became clear that much of the crud on and in the component was dried blood

So think a little about the history of your purchase - your cheap gain might come at a personal cost to the previous owner!

How would anyone ever possibly know the history of a previous owner?

You sure it wasn't ketchup?

A menstruating partner perhaps?

So many variables.....

Have you had the crud tested in a lab? How do you know it was blood?

..... and you still fitted it right.
Guess the car it came from was in an accident and something went splat near the switch.
Car owner braked, shopping on back seat flew forward and the ketchup bottle impacted hard on the dash and splat!

Also stolen cars go out in shipping containers and come back as s/hand parts.

You don't want to know what I saw in a crashed car when I assisted with the investigation work on a rare occasion.
Once a vehicle has been cleared it is usually cleaned on that department though.

May be when he was breaking it up, cut him self, Ihave done it my self. Yes I have bought parts from Estonia, cheap never had a problem.

I have stripped cars out that I had to remove bits of scalp and hair from
doing favours for a breaker friend who used to operate not to far from me. He said he had not the stomach got it but to be honest he was lazy.
As long as the price of the parts were right never seemed to bother any customers.
