great

Thanks Went to dealer this morning and they fitted one immediately.

thought I would have them do it as was passing cost on. "£ 60 all in

even collected the brass off the idiot today as well.

Saved the old one as seemed a shame to throw away the orange bulbs, as they are not leds as i thought.

Early version are bulb, later LED, this changed with the face lift. not too bad a cost though.

Many Thanks!! - Just 1 More Question!

Thanks Malcolm - your help is MUCH appreciated. 1 more question - Am I right in assuming that my (non-electric) mirror will not remain in the folded position by itself, and that I will have to hold it against its spring while I unclip the outer cover?

Look forward to getting (further) help!

Regards

Gary

Just give it a push and it will stay folded in, and stay where you put it

Mirror won't stay folded

Hi Malcolm - sorry to be a pain, just tried to fold both mirrors - they go all the way back towards the windows, but dont lock in place. I even tried lowering the windows to give a bit more travel, but no joy. Is this common for a 2003 C180? I will still try to change the blinker lamp, but it's going to make the job a lot more fiddly.

There is no more info on this, the only other alternative is to take the mirrors off, but that is a lot more work

I bought my car with a broken indicator lens. Bought a new lens and someone i sort of know told me what i needed to do. He used to "work for mercedes"..
told me to remove mirror, strip it down and chances are i will break mirror motor :(
After a total strip, including removing spring saw this small stainless tab in mirror and a handy little hole to poke in a screwdriver. Learnt the hard way but now know it only takes seconds to remove my mirror cover once folded back... I had one hell of a job trying to get the spring back on, took two of us....

Stripping Down Mirror

Hi Rappey - further to your last post, can you tell me where this clip and small hole are on the mirror? I have a broken led cover, and spring mirrors, which I don't want to have to strip down too much.

My email is:

Look forward to any help you can offer

Regards

Gary

Wow, this seems to be confusing some.
look at the pic i have posted. No idea if its the same for all but works for a w203.
Inside there is a sprung stainless tag/clip or whatever you want to call it.
poke a screrwdriver into the semi-circular hole (arrowed) and push the clip to the side which will release the plastic mirror covering (it should slide off) and the rest is self explanitory.

Many cannot do it without the paper showing the hole. I think that folk are nervous about damaging them

Surley if they cant do something as easy as what is described here then maybe they should not be attempting repairs on their cars?
