Can any one give me the definitive answer for.....

2004 ML.Bought private. Some MB service history then assorted non MB garage stamps. Rust on rear tailgate around chrome strip over plate.( inside to out - no perforation ).
Do I approach an MB dealership with a view for warranty repair ?

It is often said that you should have the car for 6 months before you claim,, though some have managed in a shorter time.

You will need to have had the last service done by an MB garage before they will entertain it

Not sure about the service issue, the only way that could come into play would be that MB would have spotted the rust in question and would have been able to deal with it . I would still try the local dealer and get his opinion
