Hi,

Has anyone used the services of the SEC Shop in Kent? I am looking for a one stop shop for a restoration of my W126 SE and would welcome comments from people who have used the services of this business.

Cheers.:p

Yes I used to use that place on my 500 SEC I had a few years ago, Chaz is the bloke's name, and he has a little dog that chews on old rad top hoses. He's not a bad mechanic but not outstanding if you know what I mean. Because he's quite expensive, I would only take my car there if I couldn't do a job myself. He certainly knows the 126 series tho, and can somehow get hold of rare parts new that merc main dealerships can't get you.... Its in the middle of nowhere in a hamlet called Kemsing if I remember correctly, good pub nearby tho (the wheatsheaf.....?) Never used him for bodywork, so can't comment on that aspect.

Just an idea

It might be worth touching base with Daniel Curnock @ the 80s Emporium - he gets some very nice work done on SECs - might be able to tell you who does his work.

Thanks for the replies. My 126 300SE needs a bit of bodywork sorting at the rear, and a number of other minor bits needing doing.

The drivers seat has a hole in the leather, one of the electric windows does not work and the electric sunroof wind deflector needs repairing.

I thought it would be convenient to get all work done at once but I could get it done bit by bt at various specialists.

I think that it would be the best way to go,,I am not keen on a all in one shop,,you can get a better deal

If you are at all handy with your hands you could try to do the work yourself if you have the time. It might save you quite alot of money for not to much work.
If you are doing body all the money is in the time in the prep work. If you could do the prep yourself and only get the painting done by pros it could save you alot of money.
