Hi there,

I have my C Class Coupe for a while now.

Year: 2001 Mileage:66000 Location: West Midlands

The problem started when my hydraulic pump went and was replaced in December 2009. The computer started flashing SRS restraint system visit the workshop. I took it back to the independent garage and they told me it was fine and reset the codes.

A few weeks later I started to receive a message saying consumer defective under voltage! It happened when I had driving for a minimum of 15 minutes. Then continuing my journey thinking maybe the battery needed charging, as instructed by the same independent garage. Another message came up saying battery/alternator visit the workshop!

Long story short I had the battery replaced (lasted 9 years) on the Monday just gone and had to go back in again within 24hours to have the alternator changed as well, as the same battery/alternator visit the workshop came up!

The same SRS message flashed again and the Stop Lamp Visit Workshop one had come up within an hour of changing the alternator.

I checked the bulbs and they are all perfectly fine. I can't understand how they change an alternator and the Stop Lamp Visit Workshop message appears.

I have already had a terrible experience with a family members CLK at another so called specialised Mercedes Garage!

Can someone please help me or even suggest somebody in the West Midlands who know what they are doing!

I'd be most grateful!!

Thank you!!

C180k Coupe
Hi

We had similar errors come up on our C180k Coupe, SRS, EPS, battery, even brake fluid with no actual faults to the car.

The dealer found it was a break in one of the wires on the engine loom under the bonnet, diagnosed by wiggling the wires when the car was running which brought up new random errors.

£1000 later and a new loom all problems were solved and the errors dissappeared.

Its worth a look if you get stuck.
