Hi sorry to bother those in the know again .....
i went to change my thermostat on my 1999 E300TD today ..undid the two trx bolts on the thermostat housing , loosened the rubber hose, then took of the housing...but i am stumped i cant get the thermostat out!!... it looks like it is part of the pipe/housing itself....i have changed many thermostats in the past but i have never came across this...am i missing something??...i dont really want to force anything and break the housing.....any suggestions or have i been supplied the wrong thermostat...it came loose with large rubber washer , which i might add does not fit the recess in the housing......oooo the joys of motoring....lol:confused:

It was a costing exercise, they knew that they would be building rusty cars in the future, so they thought that expensive parts would help pay for the repair work

The thermostats are not that expensive to buy

having the thermostat and housing as one unit is becoming increasingly common. cant remember what on, but ive seen it a few times now (not on MB's either)
