To something a bit cheaper and maybe more powerful.

I like the 06 E220 est but it's underpowered for its size (that's just my opinion though). And the nearly £400 just for tax is annoying me too so I think it's time to move on.
I had briefly thought about the 320 then thought don't be stupid if I'm moaning about running costs with this.
As I say I like it but... maybe if it was the 320 it would be different but its not.
Oh well such is life..

I'm sure they want old/ er stuff off the roads and will price things to high to annoy you so you won't pay or can't afford it.

It wouldn’t be so bad if they actually spent the money on the awful roads we have to endure, the upshot of this is that it’s encouraging people to buy SUVs I’m even considering one myself

That's an awful lot of money just for tax isn't it, I don't think we could even afford to pay that every year! We don't pay any tax on our car and it's ULEZ compliant too, well for the foreseeable anyway, so we will stick with what we have

I find our 09 E220 estate is pretty good for power at 170hp, I've no complaints anyway.
Is it worth getting your mapped?

I don't enjoy the £330pa tax, but the comfort of the 211 would take some beating.

better the devil you know, at least it's got plenty of boot space. Space in the SL can be a little "tight" with all the clobber we seem to need to take everywhere.

I thought about it but there's a few braking issues need fixed first then that....only if it's getting kept though as i seriously about going back to an E39 525td but it's manual and wanted to stick to auto.

Mark

I know, i really don't carry that much now but know it's handy for when i least expect it.

We are both retired & dont do a lot of miles. I have a E350CDI with the same sort of road tax as you, but I only tax it 6 months of the year.
The wife has a SLC250d Dec 2016 road tax £30 a year.
Road tax jumped up in Apr 2017, so have a look around at pre Apr 2017.
Even more annoying is my motorcycles road tax at £111 a year.
