We are still getting high fuel consumption on a W203 c220cdi, it is 100 miles short on every tank and black smoking, the injectors have been tested ok, the EGR valve has been replaced and new air filter, any ideas where to go next?

Turbo boost valve vac valve, what mode are you driving it in W/C or S as it makes adifference in the length of time it holds gears as well as the kick down.

Have a similar problem with a 220 CDI Replaced the MAS,Turbo Boost Valve,Boost Press Senser. One thing I have noticed is the headlight dip control does not work.I am wondering if i have Vac leak.can't seem to find where the vacuum pump is and where the lines run from.Another thing my indie says reving the engine at standstill will not make the turbo actuating arm move. Can anyone with a CDI tell me if thats right. My main problem is lack of boost goes flat at 2.5k revs.I have had the diagnostics done twice nothing comes up.Indie said maybe vacuum leak or leaky intercooler.

Many thanks in advance

hi steve,
what do you class as high consumption?
i've just changed to c220 and tank to tank fill got 31mpg which i thought was pretty poor as it hadn't been driven harshly. btw the turbo is whining like a police siren and is being replaced under warranty, so hopefully that may help.
cheers

Simon, we have 3 0f these cars so its easy to compare them, I have just got back from a 250mile trip and the instant mpg is 51 and the long term mpg is 48, this is normal but the rogue car is 10mpg under this.

I had this on an E220CDi

Have you replaced the MAF?

Just as I sold it (in desparation) I noticed that the diesel pump was leaking so may have been sucking in air. The stench of diesel gives this one away.

Its had 2 MAFs in the past year, they tend to give a definite performance problem, no fuel leaks.
