One thing I have notice with this forum and possibly many others like it is.

Someone will post a problem about their Mercedes.

Many will offer advice and support to help fix the problem, and I think we can all be grateful to the handful of members here for that assistance, (you know who you are)

BUT wouldn’t it be nice if the poster of the query could actually go to the trouble of letting us know that the problem has been fixed, what was wrong and how they did it.

Yes it would be nice if they posted back, as those that gave the advice would then know if the given information was correct.

Without a reply from the one asking the question, it can leave a back taste as to whether the information given was correct, even though it may have helped many before. There will always be a new posting tomorrow that needs a different cure.

I think in future anyone offering advise should also suggest the poster with the problem come back and post a reply to the outcome.

Annoying as it is, another train of thought, to quote the proverb:
'No news is good news'

The fact the poster hasnt replied could very well be indicative that everything is now fixed and theyve gone off back to there everyday life. Certainly if theyve found a different fix, this should be posted as it benefits all.

......perhaps it just shows a reflection of our society and the move away from Good Manners???

Careful Ceejay, the next step is "Whan I was a lad....." and "The youth of today............" ;)

What makes me fed up is all the times as a kid I stood up to give an adult a seat on the bus or the train, opened doors for people, etc, etc, now I'm of an age to expect payback, I don't get it :-?

I suppose we could all assume no reply as to the outcome could be good news but it would be nice if the person with the problem could tell us what the outcome was so people searching for solutions can have a better idea of what to do.

Certainly makes sense. If someone gives their time to reply then it's courtesy to let them know how it went and even thank them!

I am sure a perusal of my history will show an exemplary conduct where this is concerned. :D

The difficulty with opening doors for the modern miss is that they are so very fit these days (I use the word fit in the traditional sense!) By the time I've reached the door they are half way down the street! Ah the blight of old age:cry:

Ah the joy of owning a sports car in the 60's and holding the door open for a young lady wearing a miniskirt and waiting for the inevitable flash :D :D

I was sitting eating my lunch in Pease Pottage services when I saw an elderly couple walk up to a Mercedes. The guy opened the door for the woman to get in. I thought that was really cool.

I always open the door for my wife when shes getting into the CL, it means I get to open the door nice and wide so she doesnt drag the toe of her shoes across my door cars !!!!!!!!!! She thinks Im a gent!!!! little does she know.

She commented recently "you never do this for me in the SLK"

My response is "the doors are heavier on the CL"

I always open the door for my wife

I let her deal with her own door - its a bit heavy and I would worry about her losing a limb if I got it wrong shutting it...

still do the coat thing (when I remember) and I'm under 40.;)

Couldn't agree more with these sentiments. Sadly nothing new, even back in the heyday of the Roman Empire, that well known "personage" was complaining. A quote of his has come down through the ages to us (& no doubt will continue to echo on, long after we have shuffled off our mortal coils)

O tempora, O mores! - Oh, the times! Oh, the morals!:(
