My C180, which is N '96 has had a prob now for about 18 months where as you are driving, there is a sudden loss of power. Even if the gas pedal is pressed down fully, the vehicle just slows down and finally the engine goes off. Occasionally, by pumping the pedal, you can stop it from coming to a standstill. This used to occur only at low speeds. It is now doing so at higher speeds and more regularly. The garage never found the fault before but have now said that the 'Throttle Activator' needs replacing. This will cost in total just over £400 (parts/labour/VAT). Does this sound like the solution to the problem?

My mistake, 'activator' should read 'actuator'.

Hi

In my experience the throttle actuator dosn't cause loss of power. It may cause cutting out problems at idle. Or even hunting problems. I would think twice before parting with the your money. The throttle actuator does cause problems intermittantly. But we have a donar actuator which we use for test purposes allowing our customers to try and doubley make sure the problem is resolved before everybody has parted with their cash and there is no way back.

Hope I have been of some help!!

Regards
