Ticking noise/Engine

hi to all at MB,
I seem to have ticking sound comming from the engine,it comes and goes,
am i to be worried about this it has recently started i went to Motosave and asked there mechanic he said put an addative in the engine oil ??
the car is w210 on a 97 P plate it has been running well up until this problem
would appreciate any assistance with this.:) sorry its a petrol e320 with 113.000 miles on the clock had a full mb service in march 2008 and the tick goes away with increase rpm??

Does the tick increase with RPM? or does it go away.

Guess. hydraulic lifters, possibly timing chain, blowing exhaust manifold gasket, if the nuts on the manifold are not tight the gases escape and it can sound mechanical.

Have you tried an oil change, new filter and good oil?

the car had full mb service in march 2008 with increase rpm it goes away??
