Reading a recent post by daveenty has inspired me to start a few outstanding jobs that need doing to the E63.

The first of which was to clean up the rusting and manky looking hubs and repaint them with Smooth silver Hammerite paint. I would point out I would have preferred to use a rattle can as the finish can be far better. But the amount of masking up required led me to use a brush and the paint I already have.

Whilst the wheels were off, they all got a proper clean and a wax before being remounted. The plastic front wheel arch protectors were also washed, rinsed and treated to a back to black Carplan plastic polish. No photos of this as the ones I took were in shadow and look rubbish. The rear ones are like carpet so got a good brushing to clean them up.
The hubs didn't look great but I'm quite pleased with the finish and look of them after painting. Luckily it was a warm day and they dried within an hour each.

A few photos of before and after. A full days work from 9am until 4 this afternoon.

New discs front and rear are the next jobs. Both within tolerance but showing signs of wear with ripples and a slight lip.

Looking at around £700 for the fronts and £160 for the rears.

Hi AMGeed, nice job! this is definitely a job I need to do on my E55, the hubs are looking a bit rough, I have the pot of Hammerite and the brush ready to do it!, just waiting for some half decent weather!

Looks great really finishes a car off!

Might be worth thinking about some wheel woolies to clean the wheel barrels as a Birthday present the set I bought in January weren’t cheap but well worth it wish I’d done it years ago
