Hi I have a problem on gearbox w210 320cdi est now done 80,000 miles
when cold it is fine, but when warm the engine revs increase by 500rpm when changing gear from 3rd to 4th. It also has lost all drive when flooring it for a short time then regains drive, this has been very scarey ,the problem seems not ot be consistent can you advice or help.

Hello and welcome,, your fault would appear to be that the box is very low on fluid, you should get the level checked, if very low then have the box drained and a new filter fitted

Hi thanks for the reply, I took it to an indi Merc dealer who checked the levels
which were fine, it had a leak from the diff, only needed new seal.
As far as I am aware it has not had gearbox fluid or filters changed, how often do they need to be changed?

40 to 50K miles is the recommended, other than that it is not a listed fault
