Hello,

A while ago, someone on here mentioned the name of a gadget that sprung out of the filler flap to remind you not to put petrol in a diesel car.

I can't find it, can anyone remember what they are called.?

Thanks

Richard

This is what our customer used, however they are taking them back out because if the fuel nozzle isn't perfectly round it won't fit.

We are currently running one of these in an 04 S320 CDi and we have not had any problems with filling .Although it works on the inside diameter of the filler nozzle we have always been able to fill OK, if the nozzle is BADLY damaged there is a chance that it would not fit but then we'd just use the next undamaged one, the knowledge that no one can accidently put petrol into the vehicle far outshines any other concerns for us.

R230...about to purchase will update shortly
An amusing aside.... At my local Shell garage last week on the single pump opposite me, two ladies - who were in a hurry - agreed between them that the one in front would move her car forward so that the lady behind could fill up at the same time, as one was using the diesel nozzle and one petrol.. I watched in quiet amusement at their manouevering to get the hoses to reach, and then pointed out to them that the pump only has one display so how were they going to both use it at the same time to fill up with different fuels.. D'oh! .. The look on their face was a picture!... I guess these are the type of users michael is worried about!

I can't understand how anybody can make that mistake, it sounds like a tractor for God's sake. If that's not a reminder, I don't know what is.

Strangely enough the noise stops when one turns the engine off! :)

That was quite amusing for a suvna :D

My wife has been driving a Petrol C180 W203 for about 7 years now, but every now and again I get to use it. On one such occasion I was away for a few days so my eldest son let her use his Ford whatever it is Ghia thingy. She happily filled it up with unleaded petrol, and surprisingly she got about 9 miles before the DIESEL engine cut out  Cue the RAC man and one unhappy wife who had spent around £40 filling up a Diesel tank with Unleaded Petrol :D Of course it was all my fault for taking her Merc in the first place

There are 4 important things to remember when you turn 60:

1) Never trust a fart

2) Never pass up the opportunity to have a pee

3) IF you get a 'stiffy' - use it - even if you are on your own

4) I can't remember

Thanks for that!

When I get there I'll bear it in mind :confused::p
