Toe in the CLK water

I have about 10 - 12k available (including a Volvo C70 as p ex). Fairly certain it'll be a CLK but what?

The convertibles up to 2003 are in my price range but the post 2003 coupes are too. Should it be a 230k or 320 cabriolet (Avantgarde tiptronic) or a later 270 diesel (must have a sunroof).

Or shall I just keep the cash?

The first C70 bodies, British built were not a good fit compared to the MB You should get a good deal on a late 203 for that money

If you're after a 270CDi with sunroof, you might have a lot of looking to do.

Hopeful

There seem to be a few out there with sunroofs - trying one on Saturday. I'll be interested in how I get on with the diesel 5 pot as the Volve 5 pot is extremely smooth. I find the wife's 2litre diesel Focus convertible very harsh.

I found the MB 5 pot diesel about the same as my D5. However, the sound insulation in the CLK is a lot better.

Thanks

Thanks - how are you finding the cabriolet - I was quite keen but keep seeing hod horror stories. my local independent says don't worry - if it's OK when you buy it it should be reliable (he says that for all Merc items)

Nice and smooth but only into 2 weeks of ownership so nothing to report yet.

I'm about to sell my immaculate CLK 240 Convertible and it's a 2005 55 plate. I'm not going to advertise it here but just to let you know that for £12k I think you will be able to pick up a new shape CLK convertible if you look around and make some offers. When I advertise my CLK I'm going to be looking realistically for £14k (probably advertise it for slightly more) so I'm sure you'll be able to pick up a nice 2004 plate for about £12k or even less. It's a buyers market!
