Smart + others :)
You can’t overfill them adblue, there’s most probably a fault.

Worst case scenario, your adblue level sensor has failed. The whole tank/sensor/pump is one complete unit and mercedes will be looking at something in the region of £1800 to replace.
Heres hoping it's something simple but you need to get the codes read first.

This is what’s happened multiple times to my boys A180d, they’ve changed the metering valve more times than I’ve had hot dinners… it’s now going back permanently…:(

Yet my Daughter has had her 2018 face lift A180 three years now and no issues what so ever

His has only ~11k miles, don’t think it’s been used enough.

Ah, my Daughters has now done 30,000 + miles. At least 25 miles a day to and from work :)

I don't have much experience of Mercs and SCR, but I have seen it on other vehicles whereby overfilling has caused a problem. The level sensor has thrown an implausible signal error when it has been overfilled. That has put the car into inducement (the countdown).
Mercs might have that problem too, you might be lucky. Diag tool read will confirm either way.

I would not have thought filling to a certain level is critical on adblue as its a consumed fluid (like washer fluid) and not a level critical fluid like oil.

Then again I dont have it in my cars.

Over the last 5 years I've regularly filled mine to the brim, never had a problem yet. Nox sensors are my problem right now!

I used to over fill mine down the side of the car and over my shoes… (used the lorry tank at work) never ever had an overfilling warning

Sounds like Merc got that bit right then.
@Phil Fagan was it really concidental? Immediately after or after a drive? Was it known/previously used Adblue? There is a quality sensor too.

I guess the filling took the adblue to a level where the sensor just confirms that the sensor is toast.

Huge flaw by merc not making that a easily replaceable/cost manageable item. Hindsight then again!
