Hello fellow members. Can some kind sole out there help. Tried to record todays BBC3 re-run of the Top Gear edition with the SLR racing a boat to Oslo, for my Son who is Merc/SLR crazy and missed it the 1st time around. Fired up the DVD recorded well in advance, an hour later job done, or so I thought, went to play it back 'disc error!!!'. Argh, I've been waiting ages for this re-run, and the opportunity to record it for him. I know it's going to be the 1st thing he askes tomorrow morning. Sooooo, can anyone, please, please, help with a Video/DVD copy of this show. Drop me a line via PM, and I will glady re-imburse for expenses. Thanks for looking.

Sorry, should have said...No Broadband, which makes these clips hard work/impossible to watch. Thanks for the reply.

Theyre repeated on Sky (UKTV network) all the time. Couldnt say when that particular one is on though. Youd have to trawl the listings.

I've seen it about 4 times now on Virgin Media UKTV G2. Top Gear repeats are endless! Some of them are so old that Clarkson looks positively pubescent!

Thanks Guys for you observations re: cable/sat TV, we do not have these services, hence our waiting for a year for the BBC repeat. ****** DVD recorders, should have trusted it to good old VHS.

Top Gear is on digital all the time. I'll record it on the Sky box next time it comes round and copy it to dvd if you still need it.

edit: just checked and that particular one doesn't seem to be on any channel again this week. Who was the Star in a reasonably priced car? It will help me identify it on the listings.

TG SLR To Oslo

Hi tintin, You might just be a life saver!!, Great offer, if you can pull it off for me (Lads not happy, 2nd time he's missed it!). I don't know who the SIARPC was, other than it was an old chap (I think), I didn't watch it this time around....as I recorded it, or so I thought! Fingers crossed you can pull something out of the bag for us, and thanks gain for the offer, most kind.

Okay, I'll keep an eye out for it. It could be weeks...even months, but it will come round again eventually.

I have this on a Top Gear DVD. Never buy the mag normally....except this one, and it was a freebie stuck on the front cover.

The DVD has the Scaglietti in Switzerland, SLR to Oslo and the Veyron races on it. Not sure how heavily edited they are - if at all - since each one lasts a good twenty minutes or so.

I might be able to sort out copying it for you; the PC's up to it, but I'm not sure I am technically or if there are protection issues to bypass. Wil investigate.

My four year old lad loves the dvd too - he thinks Clarkson is hilarious  so I sadly can't let you just have the thing. PM me and we can sort something out I'm sure, although I'm away tonight so response will be slow.

Three Pointed Star - did you manage to get a copy? I have been checking the listings faithfully but it does not seem to have reappeared yet (every other episode has...). If it turns up I will record it for you. It was Series 6, episode 6.

For anyone trying to track down info on TV programmes, this is a great site:

Great for tracking down actors and shows that you can't quite remember the name of.

Just download a free piece of software called DVD Shrink. This will get passed the DVD protection (even removes region coding). It is intuitive to use (honestly !). Then use your normal CD/DVD burning software to burn BOTH the folders it has created on your local hard disk. Good luck.

I have now recorded this on the Sky+ box but as Three Pointed Star doesn't seem to have posted since August, he may not be aware of this post. I will pm him to see if he still wants it copying to dvd.

This was on Dave channel (formerly UK Gold) last night and this morning - it will probably be on again at least once over the next week for anyone else who wants to see it again.

Hi 'three pointed star'

You can record TV on your PC these days and from there burn them direct onto a CD/DVD. You need a TV tuner plugin, of course, and they all come with software to enable the editing of the recordings (delete adverts) too. This setup is probably easier to drive than most modern recorders.

Three Pointed Star hasn't been in touch so I guess he is not reading the forum at the moment. I didn't think to get his email address when I first offered to record it for him - I didn't think it would take so long for the repeat to come round!
