Further to my previous link, I submit the 2 following questions.

1. How does glycol actually damage a T/C & or gear box

&

2. If the gearbox was subsequently to fail is this more likely to be sudden or am I likely to recognise symptoms and complete a journey.

1. I don't know and probably only MB do. None of the literature that I have says what damage it does. I have the official repair documents handed out to technicians and it does not tell you there.

2. It will gradually fail probably. I suspect the gear chang will become v poor. who knows really.

I have not know a gear box fail badly EVER with the glycol problem.

Hi Steve I once had an auto box repaired by Bill Carver Manchester
He specialises in marine autos power boats etc maybe he could shed some light, got to be some water Knocking about in his game.
