ive been on phone to mercedes to find out part number for the torque converter for me w211 2008 diesel been told ring back in a couple of days for them to find out,,,,sounds crazy

Mercedes are usually reluctant to give out part number in case you do the obvious & get a cheaper price elsewhere

It's not a box that's exclusively used in Mercs, so it's probably worth talking to a trans specialist.

I have been lucky at MB Macclesfield. If I go to the parts counter and request prices they will bring it up on micro fish and rotate the screen to be sure the part is correct. They will not only provide part numbers but I have many printed off drawings of systems from there.
I've even had part number assistance over the phone.

That's going back a bit

I have been given the odd part number from MB and also had diagrams emailed to me

True they no longer get little slides out of the drawer.
I guess it's just a PC.
