I have an E320 estate w124 auto 1993
It is hesitant to select gear at times, and i hear a clunk from the rear end?????

Changed the box oil and filter a few months ago, and the level seems fine. Where do i drain and fill the torque converter? And do you think this would make a difference???

90% of the time its fine and runs through the gears without a problem. Just dont want to have any dramas looming around the corner so to speak!

Many thanks

Your Mercedes
2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
When you change the fluid without doing the convertor you only change half of the fluid.

There is a hole in the bell housing and you turn the engine over till the drain plug lines up with the hole, then remove it.
You can only do this iby changing all of the fluid again.

If the box is losing drive, then the will be a clonk as drive picks up again.

Do check out the vacuum system on the box

Many thanks for that, i will have another go when i can get it over the pit at work.
Is the vacum system visible from underneath, and if so what should i be looking for, split hoses etc:confused:
Do you know which side of the bell housing i will find the hole? And capacity etc for a full refill?

Many thanks for your advice
Regards
