Hi all, I went to open my car windows recently with the fob, it was boiling hot so wanted to get everything open but when I pushed the button and held on the fob nothing happened, however I got home after my journey I went to lock the car with the fob, holding down the lock button and the windows only went half way up and stopped but the sunroof closed, any one got any ideas why this is not working or had any similar on their cars.

Merc replaced my key when it did that but the car was under warranty.
Does you other key work as it should?

Tried the other key works the same as first key but thanks for your message. Had the car 3 years now no issues at all other than wear and tear so I am waiting on the 3rd one as they come in threes apparently lol, the joys of car ownership I suppose.

My solution was to take out the 10 amp fuse (somewhere around no. 6/7 in the boot fuse box) and a clean up and all was sorted for me. I replaced the fob batteries too but even now I have to be within 12-24 inches for it to work.

Used to have a C63...
Have you tried a full reset? Hold all the window buttons down until windows are fully recessed, continue holding the buttons for 2-3 seconds, then release and put all the windows back up (again, holding the buttons up for 2-3 seconds in full closed position).

Same technique also works on sunroof.

Does the engine need to be on or not or just the ignition. Thanks you for your reply.

Ignition position 2 will do - just make sure your battery is in good condition as you'll be draining it whilst doing this reset
